IT'S
COLD!
Keepin’ warm tho.
I want you to pat your pocket right now. Empty? Spare change? Broke? Well, whatever it’s filled with, you better save it, sell it or use it to bulk up because 2026 is about to be one (expensive) hell of a ride. This year is off to an exciting start and I’m here to clue you in on all the events to look out for and all that’s on the horizon. Janu-worry is over and Febu-fun is here. With Origin and BLOND:ISH already having passed us by, it’s essential to stay ahead of the game now more than ever.
For the fabulous festival go-ers:
February and March hold much grooviness for you. If you are in the Western Cape, you just missed Rumours by the Lake, that’s pretty lame of you. However, do not fret. Bazique is from the 6th to the 8th of March and it is essential you attend for a transcendent time. Multiple stages, insane décor and a body of water to grab a lekker tan. If you are in Mpumulanga then Mieliepop is your go-to destination. House, electronic, rock, rave and what looks to be the ultimate getaway.
For the electronic lovers:
Ultra is in April, Liv Golf is in March and so is Purified, the event hosted by Nora en Pure. These might be the beats you’ve been waiting for and to be honest, so have I. Calvin Harris, John Summit, Afrojack and Black Coffee could be just the artists you’ve been waiting to see in order to reset your aura or your step count. Hold onto your phones at these ones, kids.
For the Afro-tech enthusiasts:
Balcony Mix Africa in Jo’burg is soon, as is Corona Sunsets in Cape Town. If you are looking to move your hips a little, then I suggest you go where the Western Cape wind takes you. Straight for Purple Disco Machine, DJ Kent, Sun-el Musician and yes, they’re back… Liquideep. Have you ever seen a better line-up?
For the people who spent all their money in December (or maybe you’re just an introvert):
Don’t worry guys, I got you. From the comfort of your home, you can await the release of Harry Styles’ Kiss All The Time, Disco Occasionally. Maybe, you’re a folksy and are counting down till Noah Kahan’s new banjo bangers. Gorillaz, Blackpink and Robyn (her album is called Sexistential which I thought had to have a mention) are expected to release some hits too. Truly, there is something for everyone here, so don’t go having a sexistential crisis.
I think it’s safe to say your events calendar for the next few months is officially full and this is only the really big stuff. Better get saving and better get a fat smile on that face, the next few are going to be epic, busy and unreal. We’re not in Kansas anymore, Toto, we’re in South Africa.
