The Rise of Sustainable Creative Careers in Cape Town’s Entertainment Industry.

The entertainment industry is one of the hardest industries to make a living from, and trying to make it in a city like Cape Town doesn’t make it any easier. With all the talent available here, it’s very easy for it to fall by the wayside due to creatives having to pursue a 9-5 to be able just to live and help maintain their creative endeavours.

In saying that though, there is a shift happening in the landscape if you’re paying attention, where there are those putting their hands up and willing to help artists create viable systems for themselves, with Juggernaut Entertainment being a part of that. Juggernaut is a music and entertainment agency founded by Thembalethu Hadebe after years of experience in working with brands, putting together events at different scales and being a part of digital campaigns.

The important thing to keep in mind is ensuring artists create sustainable careers that have longevity for themselves.

Starting a business is no easy feat, especially in entertainment, so it’s great seeing someone taking that risk and following the philosophy of putting artists at the forefront, creating original event concepts and bringing forward brand partnerships that help contribute to the culture instead of extracting. In its initial phase it already boasts a wide range of talent on its roster.

From the likes of actress Katlego Lebogang who you might’ve seen on your screens with her roles on Netflix’s Yoh! Christmas and Showmax’s Spinners. There’s R&B artist Jemapelle James, who recently released his single “Yoh” featuring Sishii and on top of that Juggernaut and Jemapelle James have launched their event Favourite Night Live.

Joining them as well is artist, model and podcaster Alex Biaya fresh off a 2025 where he had a sold out show at Kaya Cafe, opened for Easy Freak on their year-end tour and managed to finish runner-up on Texx and The City’s Band or Bust.

Last but not least, they have rapper and actor Verge. With two projects under his belt (Louder Than Luck and Lyrical Cardio Vol 1), a successful weekly social series Lyrical Cardio and being the face of a national MTN campaign, Juggernaut is off to a strong start with its multi-faceted artists.

The important thing to keep in mind is ensuring artists create sustainable careers that have longevity for themselves. Along the way you need people around you to help achieve those objectives and that’s the gap in the industry which Juggernaut fills.

In all the good they do, my only hope is that it keeps the same ethos it has at this moment, even a decade down the line.
