Band of Muses puts forth psychedelic folk-rock that feels like an out of body experience.

From Los Angeles, emerges ‘Band of Muses’, an ethereal duo who are mystically known as Penny-Scarlett Muse and Daisy Rose Muse. Together they stir up a stream of enchanting psychedelic folk rock sounds, imbued with magic that creates a dreamy soundscape, with electrifying guitar solos that break through the stardust. Drawing from 60’s rock and roll, Band of Muses is marked by the long gone era’s flare of revelation and rebellion. Their music unfolds like a ritual, engaging you in a hypnotic séance that implores you to engage with the cosmos and dance amongst fairy lights. The immersive lyrical incantation is honed in on, and encourages one to have an unbreakable spirit.

Their debut release ‘Cinnamon’, gives you a first impression of the world that Band of Muses has nurtured. It takes the listener along a phantasmagoric trip, allowing them to experience an eternal high. Penny-Scarlett’s honey-coated lead vocals flow in tandem with Daisy Rose’s orphic harmonies

Their second single, ‘Ladybird’, is what I am really shining a spotlight on. It is a euphoric psychedelic folk-rock blend that transmutes longing into liberation, and finds its roots in the essence of 1960s Laurel Canyon. Daisy Rose’s acoustic and electrifying guitar work sweeps you away, and ushers you into a cinematic venture. The minute I tuned in, it was like a wormhole – I just needed to carry on listening. The track’s build-up is supported by the acoustic guitar and drums, which then spine-chillingly transitions into the crescendo, followed by the insane electric guitar segment.

It made me reminisce on that classic moment when you find a song that hits just right – instinctively it’s added to your playlist ready to be played over and over again. The sound style conjured by Penny-Scarlett and Daisy Rose is nothing short of enigmatic, and ‘Ladybird’ proves to be worth listening to if you enjoy psychedelic notes infused with that punchy folk-rock. Dive straight in, and let yourself be enveloped within inconceivable rifts of music.
