Austin Powell delivers Alternative Indie music that has a sensual Bedroom Lo-fi feel. Powell has brought his sound to stage in New York, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Atlantic City and Las Vegas. Along that journey he released his single ‘No Vacancy’ in 2019 that caught the attention of Happy Mag. The song of his that I’d like to shine a spotlight on today is his track ‘Retribution’ – being someone that enjoys rich vocals that bathe in that Lo-Fi glaze, it caught my attention almost instantaneously! The funky guitar strums intro the song, and soon they pick up as Austin’s vocals hit ‘centre stage’.

The baseline is also really good and gets you tapping your foot as the rest of the instrumental beats along. I particularly loved the various instrumental breaks like at around 00:40 that allow your ears to just engage with those beautifully, mellow notes. The lyricism is incredibly catchy, and it wasn’t long before I was able to sing along, making for a fun jam out sesh. That being said if you wanna kick your shoes off and unwind to an addictive song, Austin Powell has you covered!
