OTZ HOME Unveil Human-inspired New Collection At Pop-Up Market.
The ‘Humane‘ Pop Up marked the launch of OTZ‘s new collection, last Saturday, the 26th of July. I was ecstatic to get a peek at the beautiful handcrafted vinyl and denim jackets and pants, along with dope caps and T-shirts that make up the drop. Upon arriving at the venue, quaint vintage store Colab.22, we were greeted with the scents of delicious wine emanating from a pop-up bar by an independent wine company, Root. Walking inside, my attention was immediately grabbed by the striking leather and denim jackets with artful handmade patterns sewn on.
The way the OTZ team have approached the Humane Collection‘s rollout in a unique and creative way through the lens of an Instagram lookbook formed by individual ‘Picture Books‘ (Posts), which each tell a story while showcasing different items from the collection. This gallery-style presentation also brings together the artistic vision, as seeing the clothes in person, many of the items felt more like collector’s items than simply a jacket, shirt, or pair of pants. It was clear to see the painstaking attention to detail and loving touch that had gone into each piece.
I was really struck by the intricate I-CITY VINYL JACKETS, which come in black and green – each jacket has a different shape/ size city along with stars on the back and arms inspired by the way Cape Town has influenced Creative Director Jaro Conradie as a designer. I was also thrilled to get a free yellow ‘Humane‘ cap for being one of the first to arrive, along with copping an ‘UNTOUCHED‘ T-shirt featuring a pretty sunrise design which compliment each other perfectly.
It was a breath of fresh air to see the originality of the Humane Collection‘s jackets, and the sheer artfulness of the whole collection. If you’re into out there fashion, African patterns and trendy streetwear then OTZ might be for you as it fuses these styles to create something bold and different. Go checkout the collection or grab yourself a custom 1OF1 design on the OTZ HOME website.
