VERTIGO @ The Labia

VERTIGO is a local Cape Town-based platform that champions alternative forms of art, whether that be music or visual art. Their event, VERTIGO LIVE at the Labia Theatre, works as an intimate affair, punctuated by the soundscapes of Yndian Mynah meeting the jazz musings of the Fernando Damon Trio. The live performance will be accompanied by the integration of visual media from Nicholai Thomas and Terrace House Studio. 

The instrumental Band Yndian Mynah is best described by their post-rock sounds, which effectively convey a sense of narrative primarily through the use of instrumentation. Yndian Mynah has a focus on subverting the expectations of conventional rock and aims to transcend barriers of genre and language through the instrumental journeys they take the listeners and will be taking the audience on a ride at VERTIGO at the Labia. 

Fernando Damon is a musician/drummer hailing from Cape Town with a keen ear for the details of music. His history in the musical space spans wide as he shared spaces with many international and local curators of high esteem, and with that long history comes a sound that contains a dynamic energy that transcends boundaries, which makes him a great addition to the line-up for VERTIGO, with his Guitarist Dylan Fine and Keys player Vuyo Nkasawe providing the space to make the event truly stellar. 

Terrace House Studio is a collaboration between artists Abi Meekel, Riley Grant, and Claire Meeke. The aim of Terrace House Studio is to produce experiences that immerse the audience and allow culture and the needs of commercial audiences to intersect. 

Nicholai & Bjorn Thomas are multidisciplinary Cape Town artists, intending to challenge notions of what we deem as true with contemporary media spaces. These artists will be featuring their work alongside the live performances of Yndian Mynah and the Fernando Damon Trio.
