Cape Town-born singer-songwriter Nakishka is no newcomer to the music scene. Having released tracks on SoundCloud and performed across the city, she now steps into a new chapter with ‘Mood Ring‘ her first official single on major streaming platforms. The song, Nakishka shares, was born in a half-dreaming state — a moment of inspiration that shaped its ethereal tone.“I’d spent the day with a friend who’d just started wearing a mood pendant, and found myself watching the colours shift, wondering if it meant anything about how they were feeling,” she explained. 

Having followed Nakishka’s music for some time, and getting early access to ‘Mood Ring‘ this past September, I knew instantly she was striking the right chord. Her low, velvety voice floats over subtle, atmospheric production, akin to artists like Alina Baraz and Shekhinah, yet remaining distinctly her own.
