HuemanBeingDesign (Mbongeni Fongoqa) is a talented visual artist and graphic designer based in Johannesburg. An expressive and imaginative art style characterises his work. His designs and, in particular, his yellow characters are straight out of a video game in the best possible way. We love the way he creates an intimate universe inside each of his canvasses.

In March of this year, Mbongeni hosted a creative workshop at the Origin Art gallery with the intention of teaching other artists to embrace imperfections and unlock their unique styles. A multifaceted creative, Mbongeni also prints shirts with his designs on them. According to him, he is best able to express his emotions and thoughts through the scope of art.

There’s a real sense of play in HuemanBeingDesign’s work. From the layered brushstrokes to the offbeat shapes and hyper-stylised characters, everything feels like it’s moving, even when it’s still.
