Umuthiomkhulu – August

On the 23rd of August Mthimkhulu Stuurman a South African based trombonist is coming to the Obscene Parrot. With over 4 years experience in African Spiritual music, he is the founding member and leader of Umuthiomkhulu Ensemble, and is influenced by the likes of DR Johnny Mekoa who introduced him to Jazz, and later inspired by Malcolm Jiyane. He is best known for his work on Bass Sings, African Jazz Hound and Gcina Mashiyane. Umuthiomkhulu is currently working on their latest album, Imithandazo Yethu.
